Medicine Prescription

Medicare Prescription Drug Plan (Part D)

Original Medicare does not provide for prescription drug coverage. In order to get Medicare drug coverage, you must join a plan provided by a private insurance company.

Two Options for Medicare Drug Coverage

  • Option 1: Add the Medicare Prescription Drug Plan (Part D) to your Original Medicare coverage and choose a Medicare Supplement.

  • Option 2: Utilize a Medicare Advantage Plan (Part C) that includes Medicare Part A, B and D in one plan. These plans are provided by private companies and are separate from Original Medicare. You can either participate in Original Medicare or Medicare Advantage; you can’t participate in both at the same time.
